Creativity for learning in English

The current educational climate is clearly encouraging teachers to think creatively about the English curriculum; to develop language-rich experiences and interactive teaching which immerse children in language (heard, seen and used), understanding, and learning, without losing the skills which enable children to access and use the written word effectively.

Our courses and all sessions we lead for school staff are underpinned by the belief that children learn best when immersed in knowledge and understanding of what is to be learned. We promote depth of focus rather than shallow coverage.webcam wm 310P

When we put together a unit of customised planning we take into account analyses of the skills and needs of the children who will follow that unit. We include learning outcomes, linked to National Curriculum and appropriate links to other subjects.webcam wm 310P

Our planning includes speaking and listening, reading and writing, and use of ICT, where appropriate. Most includes use of drama or small world play/role play and we suggest appropriate resources and books.
We also suggest ways of setting up areas in classrooms to form a 'backdrop' or form of 'virtual reality' which can help children become immersed in a particular topic.webcam wm 310P
